Who's Gonna Be Left?

If every Democrat in Congress is going to run for President who's gonna be left to fight the battles on the floor when the chips are down?  Even Democratic Governors are declaring!  If this keeps up the nice lady who hands out umbrella covers on rainy days will be the only one on Capitol Hill without a hat in the ring.
Obviously only one candidate will win the nomination with another selected as number 2, but with 14+ already declaring and a couple of the heavy hitters dragging their feet (in order to let the anticipation build causing the talking heads on 24/7 TV news to be manipulated into creating some highly sought after buzz) the number could potentially reach 20 or more . So, if they're all out on the stump...who'll be minding the store?

It's not that the other guys can't be trusted. I am sure each and every one of them had a mother who  ingrained all the rights and wrongs in order to live a life of high decorum and honesty. Somehow once that child goes into politics it's as if all those things mama tried to ingrain disappear winding up stored away in the mental file marked "Excluding Politics".

Senator Mathews, who in 2012 said they should send Mr. Obama back to Kenya or wherever he came from in Africa, had the nerve to parade a black woman before the Cohen committee to refute the  examples given in testimony that trump was a racist. It so happens she's a person, Cohen hired and put in her trump organization position.  She wasn't going to be allowed to speak (by rule) but her being brought into the committee room to stand behind the senator  was perhaps one of the most shocking displays of classless, racial insensitivity that one might expect from a "non racist" Mathews. When taken to task for the cheap shot and his lack of understanding of the trope he made, the man went on a ballistic rant shouting over the speaker demanding the record be purged of the comments (I took) calling him a racist for his stunt. Did he actually expect this woman to stand there and be his token black proof of trump's racial tendencies? Did he expect her to speak out against her employer at the risk of losing her job? Oh yeah. She wasn't permitted to speak before the committee.
Whether Mathews is a racist or not...you will never know,  he can't say that his 2012 comment didn't come out of his mouth. We saw and heard him.
The truth is never easy to pigeon-hole in political Washington DC (especially these days). Remember the "don't believe what you saw and heard. Believe what I am telling you now" mantra. I mean, I always knew politicians played politics, but I used to think it was a means to an end benefitting the rest of us. I am sure that no longer rings true in this administration.

The Dems need to cut the grousing too. They had the reigns of power and the pulled the same slimeball tactics in order to gain congressional advantage. Of course they didn't have control of both houses during their candidate's reign. They had to resort to trickery in order to try and get a bill passed. There were Exectutive Actions taken by that team too, HOWEVER, most of those actions were an effort to build something. trump seems to feel deconstructing is the key. Actually, it makes sense for him. It is much easier to tear something down as opposed to funding, designing, rendering, contracting and building it. It suits a short attention span.

Finally, not reading briefings and claiming to know more than the experts on everything, unless his  ignorance is required when caught in a lie or when something blows up in his face, flies in the face of reason. It doesn't even matter when there is film! If you recall he said he knew more about ISIS than all his generals. He said his vast intelligence agencies (headed by his own appointees) need to go back to school. He says, in spite of all the evidence presented by the WORLD'S SCIENTIFIC EXPERTS regarding global warming, THEY don't know what they are talking about (confusing weather with climate change due to global warming). Shoves a foreign diplomat from a small country prior to a photo op in Helsinki. He sends his son in law and a real estate lawyer to Israel to work on a complex multinational peace plan who are laughed at by the Israelis at a press conference for their lack of experience and expertise. Recently toady Pense, after citing the super embarrassing exaggerations of his master's accomplishments since becoming president, proferred  greetings to the World security conference from "the leader of the free world" among other scripted trumpian aggrandizements. The silence during his pause for applause was louder than at any one of trump's "rallies". There were even titters of laughter. (Remember the UN reaction when the "leader of the free world" tried something similar?)
So, here is a man who doesn't read his briefings and presides over the "world" (I laughed) by using his stable genius mind. Everyone else in the world is too stupid to see they're wrong.

Finallly (really this time), being President is a hard job. The photos don't lie. Look at shots of Bush II after the election and compare them with those from when he left office. The same is true with Mr Obama whose hair even turned grey.
Trump will look the same as he did the day he decided to run. It's simple...most of his work week is spent thinking during "executive titime."  I can just see him in his monogrammed jammies, feet up on the coffee table, eating two Egg McMuffins with a couple sides of Hash Rounds and a Coke watching Fox News and having a toadie or two taking notes on who is saying nice things and who is not.
That lasts until lunch. Next a meeting with his hand picked intelligence leadership. He puts pants on,  along with slippers and a tie. Takes the briefing papers, bids the befuddled spy guys farewell and sets about making paper airplanes of the few pages in the report. Gotta eat lunch...maybe Wendy's. More executive time and a 15 minute staff meeting. Called Hannnity to see what he should do next week. More executive time and the day is done. Wow. This guy needs a vacation! Off to Florida he goes. I read a report that said in his first six months in office he played more rounds of golf than the number of days he was president. I am sure he needed it...with that kind of workload. Nope. He will look exactly the same when he leaves. Some of us hope that will be very soon.
