A sidebar to today's post...which I guess is another post only smaller?

   


    I was just riffing (off the top of my head random thoughts on a topic) regarding the worldwide bovine methane problem and my not knowing what or if anything was done to lessen its impact on the environment. And a couple of things struck me.
    There are certainly more humans in the world than cows and all humans expel methane in the same manner as cows and my dog certainly does (which brings tears to my eyes...no really his can stop your heart and burn your eyes). And there are loads of dogs out there too. I mean, don't all mammals expel methane via flatulence? Wow. Whales are mammals. Maybe some of those whale recording are from the back end of the whale. Imagine the gaseous bubble cloud an adult sperm whale would make.
Could probably capsize a small boat.
    I harkened back to the age of dinosaurs (this is still me riffing) and began to wonder if there was a methane problem for them as well, especially when they were the dominant creatures on the planet.
Did dinos fart? They weren't mammals, but then again things hadn't been completely sorted out evolution-wise back then. And then there's their sudden extinction. Poof and they were gone. What if that poof was Dino methane! The entire population wiped out by some funky gas! Forget about the meteor or the volcanic eruption and the ash cloud scientific jumbo jumbo. Could thousands of Brontosaurus have gotten into some bad leafy greens and set the sky on fire? I will never know, because after I finish this train of thought I will never riff this way again.
    I had to get it out of my system and unfortunately for you, you clicked on this sidebar. I have kept my promise, however and made it brief although, I would guess, not brief enough for some.
I don't know. Lowbrow humor is good for the soul now and then...just not at the dinner table.
